🔺 A’One Performance. Former Gamecock A’ja Wilson had a strong start to Olympics season! USA women’s basketball took down Germany in one final exhibition game before the Olympics begin. She finished the game with 19 points, 14 rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Team USA will play their first Olympic game against Japan on July 29 at 3 p.m.
🔺 Fall At Founders. Gamecock fans will see the new baseball staff in action sooner, rather than later! South Carolina will play two scrimmages against teams other than themselves. They’ll host Air Force on October 26 at 2 p.m. Head coach Paul Mainieri led the Falcons from 1989-94. Then, they’ll head to the College of Charleston on November 7 at 6 p.m. They’ll meet former Gamecock head coach Chad Holbrook at Patriots Point.
🔺 Academic Excellence. The baseball team was given the 2023-24 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award! The award highlights programs that post a GPA of 3.0 or above for the entire academic year. The Gamecocks had 15 student-athletes on the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll and 15 on the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
🔺 Count Us Down. We’re 37 days from Gamecock football! Let’s throw it back on this Thursday. Last season, South Carolina beat Mississippi State at home: 37-30. Quarterback Spencer Rattler went 18-of-20, passing for 288 yards and three touchdowns in that win. Xavier Legette had 189 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Both of those Gamecocks are in the NFL now, Rattler with the New Orleans Saints and Legette with the Carolina Panthers.
