🔺 Coming Home Happy. The second-ranked Gamecock women’s basketball team beat Coppin State 90-48 at their place yesterday. Joyce Edwards led the game with 26 points, adding five steals. Tessa Johnson scored 17 points, going 5 of 8 from 3-point range. Ta’Niya Latson had 15 points, five assists, and six steals. The Gamecocks will play at No. 13 Oklahoma on Thursday night.

🔺 Upset Season. The No. 18 South Carolina men’s tennis team upset No. 10 Columbia 4-3 on the road, securing their first ranked win of the season. The Gamecocks clinched the doubles point and, after a back-and-forth singles battle, Atakan Karahan’s three-set victory sealed the upset. South Carolina will host the ITA Kickoff Weekend Jan. 24-25.

🔺 Season Opening Sweep. The women’s tennis team opened the dual match season with wins over Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina. They swept both matches, winning the doubles point and securing singles victories on multiple courts. They will also host the ITA Kick Off Weekend this weekend.

🔺 Fell Short. The men’s basketball team’s late rally wasn’t enough as they fell to Auburn 71-67 on the road. Meechie Johnson led the Gamecocks with 17 points, six assists, five rebounds, and three steals. Mike Sharavjamts scored 13 points and added a pair of blocks, recording his fifth multi-block game of the season. The Gamecocks will host Oklahoma tomorrow.
