Tailgate Talks: Brandon Wallace - A South Carolinian through and through, Brandon Wallace was a jack-of-all-trades stat-stuffer during his time in the Garnet & Black, and now he's back in Columbia doing what he loves. Pat and Stephen talk with Dave Odom's Swiss Army Knife about his time at Carolina, the life of a pro player overseas, and his current role as a high school coach.
📈 STOCK UP
🔺 Fell Short. The men’s basketball team fell short last night, losing at Georgia 71-60. Jamarii Thomas led all scorers with 19 points, with 16 coming in the second half. Collin Murray-Boyles scored 18. South Carolina will host No. 13 Texas A&M on Saturday night.
🔺 Anotha One. For the second-straight week, Joyce Edwards has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week! She scored 16.0 points per game in wins over No. 5 LSU and No. 18 Tennessee. She has led the team in scoring nine times this season.
🔺 Student-Athletes. Two Gamecock football players who wear No. 5 were named Academic All-Americans by the College Sports Communicators! Rocket Sanders earned first-team honors after posting a 3.88 GPA. Kyle Kennard also earned first-team honors after graduating in December with a 3.64 GPA.
🔺 Hump Day Doubleheader. The 16th-ranked men’s tennis team hosts a midweek doubleheader today! They’ll take on Queens University of Charlotte at 10 a.m., then the College of Charleston at 2 p.m. The matches will be played on the outdoor courts at the Carolina Tennis Center.
🔺 Magic Man. Junior shortstop Henry Kaczmar isn’t just talented in baseball. He has a passion for card tricks and piano! He transferred to South Carolina seeking a bigger stage and more development opportunities after leading Ohio State with a .320 batting average and seven home runs. Despite being projected for the MLB Draft, Kaczmar prioritized his college career, focusing on his long-term development and the benefits of playing in the SEC. Kaczmar hopes to make some magic happen on the diamond this spring.
