He's a big dude with a bigger personality who left a huge impact on his teammates. Weslye Saunders was highly recruited out of high school and made some massive plays for the Gamecocks, but similar to his quarterback, his time in college was cut short. Three key members of the 2007 recruiting class get together to chop it up about the dorm-room days, reminisce about those incredibly talented Spurrier teams, and open up about a couple of painful early exits.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Dominant Dub. Third-ranked Gamecock women’s basketball beat Auburn 81-51 on the road last night. Joyce Edwards led the way with 20 points, adding five rebounds. Tessa Johnson also scored in double figures with 13 points and five assists. The Gamecocks will play at Texas A&M on Monday.

🔺 Preseason Praise. Gamecock softball’s Arianna Rodi was named Preseason All-SEC! She won the Rawlings Gold Glove Award at first base last season. She also set a pair of Gamecock program records.

🔺 Strong Start. The third-ranked equestrian team started the spring with a 10-7 win at No. 10 Baylor. The Gamecocks won in Fences, Horsemanship, and tied in Reining, while Baylor won on the Flat. It marked the first win in Waco for the Gamecocks since the 2018-19 season. South Carolina will face No. 4 Texas A&M today at 1 p.m.

🔺 Saturday Hoops. Gamecock men’s basketball will host LSU tomorrow at 6 p.m. on the SEC Network. The Gamecocks beat the Tigers earlier this month, 78-68. South Carolina’s back-to-back NIT Championship teams from 2005 and 2006 will be honored at halftime.

🔺 Tori’s Story. South Carolina softball’s Tori Ensley stands strong in her faith and has a passion for helping children with special needs. After losing confidence in middle school, a coach’s encouragement reignited her passion for the game of softball. Now, Ensley embraces her platform as an athlete to share her faith and inspire others.

🔺 Bad News. South Carolina baseball pitcher Jake McCoy will miss the 2026 season due to a UCL tear requiring Tommy John surgery. Despite the setback, McCoy remains committed to supporting his team and is optimistic about his recovery and future career.
