Tailgate Talks: Brandon Wallace - A South Carolinian through and through, Brandon Wallace was a jack-of-all-trades stat-stuffer during his time in the Garnet & Black, and now he's back in Columbia doing what he loves. 🔺 Feelin’ 22. Former Gamecock A’ja Wilson has been named the 2024 USA Basketball Female Athlete of the Year! She was named MVP of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games after averaging 18.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game at the tournament. In her USA Basketball career, she has won seven international gold medals, including two Olympic gold medals. The honor comes at a perfect time, as Wilson will have her South Carolina jersey retired on Sunday.

🔺 We’re Lovin’ It. Women’s basketball signee Ayla McDowell has been named a McDonald’s All-American! In her senior year, she’s averaging 24.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 3.1 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. She’s ranked 22nd overall in the Class of 2025’s espnW 100.

🔺 Sweep Dreams. The 16th-ranked men’s tennis team took down Queens and College of Charleston in sweeping fashion! They beat both teams 7-0 yesterday. They’ll take on Clemson for a Palmetto Series matchup next week!

🔺 Get Your Running Shoes On. The Cocky Trot 5K & Fun Run/Walk, presented by Palmetto Shirt Company, is back on April 26! Participants will enjoy a 5K route starting at Gamecock Park, winding through the football practice fields, and finishing on the field inside Williams-Brice Stadium. Those seeking a shorter option can sign up for the approximately one-mile Fun Run/Walk.
