All four parts of Black Magic: The Story of the 1984 Gamecocks are now streaming on Gamecocks+!

In the early 1980s, South Carolina football was searching for an identity, a program hungry for respect on the national stage. Under second-year head coach Joe Morrison, the 1984 Gamecocks did just that, starting a cultural shift in Columbia and leading fans on a journey they’d never forget.

In this four-part series, each episode will walk you through the quiet, high intensity of Morrison and the magical games that turned into one of the best seasons in program history.

🔺 On The Edge. Head coach Shane Beamer introduced new defensive ends/outside linebackers coach Deion Barnes to the media last week! Click here to watch the press conference.

🔺 Chomped ‘Em. The third-ranked women’s basketball team beat Florida 74-63 to earn its first SEC road win. Raven Johnson scored 17 points, while Joyce Edwards scored 11 with 10 rebounds for a double-double. The Gamecocks will play at Arkansas on Thursday.

🔺 Made A Splash. South Carolina swimming dominated Queens, with the women winning 181-78 and the men winning 156-104. The women’s team broke six pool records, while the men’s team broke three. The Gamecocks completed multiple event sweeps and individual victories across various swimming events.
