Tailgate Talks: We Bowlin’. Pat and Stephen went bowling with Gamecock football to kick off 2025 with an epic tailgate in Orlando. They caught up with former teammates, took fan questions, and shared stories of their less-than-perfect bowl experiences. They may not have brought the team much luck, but hey, bowl games have never really been their thing.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 No Place Like Home. The second-ranked Gamecocks are finally back at home! They’ll host their SEC home opener tonight against Texas A&M. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. on ESPN2. The Gamecocks lost Ashlyn Watkins for the rest of the season to a torn ACL during the Mississippi State game.

🔺 Fell Short. Gamecock men’s basketball fell 88-68 to No. 5 Alabama in the SEC home opener last night. Jacobi Wright led the Gamecocks as he tied his career-high with 20 points. Nick Pringle had 13 points and six rebounds against his former team. The Gamecocks will host No. 2 Auburn on Saturday.

🔺 SEC’s Best. Football head coach Shane Beamer has been named the Bear Bryant SEC Coach of the Year! He becomes one of eight finalists for the American Heart Association’s 2024 National Bear Bryant Coach of the Year Award. The award winner will be announced on January 22 during an awards ceremony on CBS Sports Network.

🔺 Pow Pow. Women’s basketball player Te-Hina Paopao has been named to the John R. Wooden Award Women’s Midseason Top 25 Watch List! She has earned All-Conference honors every year of her collegiate career and was named a 2024 All-American. She leads the Gamecocks in scoring with 11.6 points per game on 49% shooting.
