🎥 TAILGATE TALKS

Tailgate Talks. A leader in one of Coach Spurrier's first recruiting classes at Carolina, Darian Stewart set the tone on and off the field for the Gamecocks during his time in Columbia. From the birth of Sandstorm in 2009 versus Ole Miss to his 10-year NFL career that produced a Super Bowl ring, D-Stew had quite the football journey. On this episode of Tailgate Talks, DiMarco and Garcia sit down with one of their favorite defensive teammates to look back at it all.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Down To The Wire. Gamecock football battled at No. 7 Alabama until the final second. Despite the 27-25 loss, it was a thriller in Tuscaloosa. LaNorris Sellers found Nyck Harbor with 43 seconds left to close the gap on the scoreboard. After a missed two-point attempt, South Carolina got the ball back from an onside kick. An interception on the final drive sealed the win for the Crimson Tide. The Carolina defense intercepted Jalen Milroe twice.

🔺 Friday Night Lights. The men’s soccer team got the 2-0 win at Georgia State on Friday! Two second-half goals from Harrison Myring and William Nilsson earned the Gamecocks three points in the Sun Belt standings. The Gamecocks led the Panthers 22-to-10 in total shots and 8-to-2 in shots on goal. Filip Versterre recorded the two Gamecock saves. They’ll have the week off before traveling to No. 4 West Virginia on Saturday.

🔺 Gamecock Chomp. Volleyball got their first conference win of the season by sweeping No. 19 Florida on the road! This is the first time in 36 years South Carolina has defeated Florida at their place. Oby Anadi, Tireh Smith, and Riley Whitesides combined for 30 kills. They’ll come home for five-straight home matches starting Friday.

🔺 We’re Even. The 23rd-ranked women’s soccer team finished their match at Ole Miss in a 2-2 draw. Katie Shea Collins scored her seventh goal of the season in the 10th minute. Cat Barry scored the second South Carolina goal with 15 minutes remaining. She tied her career-high with 10 goals this season. They return home to play Alabama on Friday.

🔺 Season’s Greetings. The women’s swimming and diving team defeated Vanderbilt 249-45 in their season opener. Three swimmers earned individual wins — Amy Riordan won the 200 free, Dylan Scholes won the 50 free, and Greta Pelzek won the 200 fly. The Gamecocks went 1-2-3 on both diving boards, with Sophie Verzyl leading the way.

Both the men and women fell to Georgia in the tri-meet. The men swept the breaststroke events with Linus Kahl winning the 100 and 200.
