🎥 TAILGATE TALKS
Tailgate Talks. A leader in one of Coach Spurrier's first recruiting classes at Carolina, Darian Stewart set the tone on and off the field for the Gamecocks during his time in Columbia. From the birth of Sandstorm in 2009 versus Ole Miss to his 10-year NFL career that produced a Super Bowl ring, D-Stew had quite the football journey. On this episode of Tailgate Talks, DiMarco and Garcia sit down with one of their favorite defensive teammates to look back at it all.
📈 STOCK UP
🔺 Run It Back. The defending national champion women’s basketball team has been picked to win the SEC by the league and national media for the fourth time in five seasons! Te-Hina Paopao earned Preseason All-SEC First Team honors, while Raven Johnson and MiLaysia Fulwiley earned Second Team honors. The Gamecocks will play and exhibition game at Memphis tonight at 9:30 p.m. as part of the Hoops for St. Jude Tip Off Classic!
🔺 Sophomore Stud. For the first time since the 2020-21 season, a Gamecock men’s basketball player has earned Preseason All-SEC accolades! Sophomore Collin Murray-Boyles earned Preseason Third Team All-SEC honors. South Carolina was picked to finish 11th in the conference.
🔺 Super Woman. Former women’s basketball player Tiffany Mitchell enters the Association of Lettermen’s Athletics Hall of Fame this year! She was the most decorated women’s basketball player in program history at the end of her career (2012-16). Her No. 25 Gamecock jersey was retired last November although she still plays professionally in the WNBA. The Charlotte native was part of the program’s first SEC Championship, SEC Tournament Championship, and NCAA Final Four teams. She recently spent the 2024 WNBA season with the Connecticut Sun.
“If you want to get to the league, South Carolina is the right place to go.”
