🎥 THE COCKTALE HOUR

The CockTale Hour. It's a bye week for football, but Jay Philips and Bill Gunter refuse to sleep! We're getting ready for the second half of football season and the start of basketball this week on the CockTale Hour.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Career Night. The 22nd-ranked women’s soccer team finished with a 1-1 draw at Tennessee last night. It was a career night for goalkeeper Tina Tsaousis, who recorded a career-high 10 saves. Cat Barry scored the lone Gamecock goal. They’ll return home to host No. 13 Auburn on Sunday at 4 p.m.

🔺 Everyone’s Favorite. The women’s basketball sits atop the USA Today/Coaches Preseason Women’s Basketball Poll for the fourth time in the last five seasons. They were also picked to repeat as SEC Champions. Te-Hina Paopao was named Preseason First Team All-SEC, while MiLaysia Fulwiley and Raven Johnson earned Second Team honors. The Gamecocks are simply everyone’s favorite. They’ll return to the court on Monday for an exhibition game, hosting Clayton State.

🔺 Double The Fun. The Gamecocks are back in the CVC on Sunday! Volleyball hosts Auburn at 2 p.m., and it’s a double-point opportunity for students. South Carolina will celebrate Senior Day before the match, recognizing Oby Anadi, Morgan Carter, Claire Wilson, Ellie Ruprich, and Riley Whitesides.

🔺 Hurdling Through Life. Former Gamecock sprinter and hurdler Jason Richardson will be inducted into the USC Association of Lettermen’s Athletics Hall of Fame next week! He retired from competing in 2018, but that doesn’t mean he has slowed down. He serves as the Manager of Athlete Relations for LA28, the organizing committee for the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics.

At South Carolina, Richardson was a six-time All-American and won the SEC Outdoor Championship in the 110m hurdles. He went on to win NCAA Outdoors in the same event, was named South Carolina’s MVP in indoor and outdoor, and was named the USTFCCCA Scholar Athlete of the Year. After his time in Columbia, he won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics.
