🪄 BLACK MAGIC

In the early 1980s, South Carolina football was searching for an identity — a program adrift and hungry for respect. Part One of Black Magic: The Story of the 1984 Gamecocks sets the stage with the arrival of head coach Joe Morrison, whose quiet intensity would spark a cultural shift in Columbia. Through the eyes of players, journalists, and lifelong fans, we revisit a program standing at the edge of transformation. The ’84 season begins with a tense, hard-fought win over The Citadel — a shaky opening act that hinted at the unforgettable storm to come.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Split Decision. The 10th-ranked women’s soccer team tied No. 7 Arkansas 2-2 last night. Taylor Bloom scored the first goal of the match and Gracie Falla scored the last. Christina Tsaousis made four saves in goal. The Gamecocks will play at Auburn on Sunday at 2 p.m. on SEC Network+.

🔺 Back On Course. The cross country team will compete in the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational today! They’ll race in both the Blue and Open Divisions at 9:50 and 11:10 a.m., respectfully. The Gamecocks are coming off back-to-back podium finishes.

🔺 Saturday At Stone. The men’s soccer team continues conference play tomorrow! They’ll host UCF at 7 p.m. at Stone Stadium. The match will be streamed on ESPN+. The Gamecocks are coming off two wins, while the Knights are coming off two losses.

🔺 Sunday Funday. Gamecock volleyball will host Georgia on Sunday at 1 p.m. The theme is Women in Sports and the first 500 students in attendance will receive a phone wallet! Fans at home can watch the match on the SEC Network.
