A splash hire and coveted transfer defender, both in their first season in Columbia and making a huge impact. New assistant coach Deion Barnes was a key reason Caleb Herring chose South Carolina over dozens of other schools who came calling this offseason.

🔺 Monster Mash. South Carolina football looks to extend its winning streak to three games with a Saturday afternoon showdown at Oklahoma.

The Gamecocks enter the matchup riding high after consecutive victories over ranked opponents, No. 11 Tennessee (27-24) and No. 16 Florida (38-19).

Kickoff on the SEC Network is set for 4:15 p.m. ET.

🔺 Accolades Aplenty. With tip-off just days away, top-ranked South Carolina has plenty of preseason praise rolling in.

A trio of Gamecocks were named to the Naismith Trophy National Player of the Year Preseason Watch List, included fifth-year forward Chloe Kitts, senior guard Tessa Johnson and junior forward Joyce Edwards. The three representatives are tied for the most by any program in the country.

Kitts also earned a spot on the Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year Preseason Watch List.

🔺 Connect Four. For the fourth time this season, the No. 2 South Carolina equestrian squad earned a top-10 victory, this time rolling past No. 8 Fresno State, 16-2, on Thursday afternoon. The 16 points against the Bulldogs marked the most for the Gamecocks since the 2013-14 season (17, Sept. 27).

🔺 Youth Of A Nation. For the second time this fall, South Carolina’s Amelia Harris has earned SEC Women’s Golf Freshman of the Week. The Gamecocks have now won three SEC Freshman of the Week honors this fall with Harris snatching the award twice and Yana Beeli securing the award earlier this month.
