📈 STOCK UP
🔺 Road Warriors. The Gamecocks picked up their third SEC road win of the season on Saturday! They went to Nashville to defeat No. 24 Vanderbilt, 28-7. Rocket Sanders had some fun, rushing for 126 yards and two touchdowns. He added 52 receiving yards and a 43-yard receiving touchdown. LaNorris Sellers threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns. The win was South Carolina’s second-straight against a Top-25 team. They’re now bowl-eligible and ranked No. 23 in the AP Poll.
🔺 Wright Stuff. The men’s basketball team got their first win of the season on Friday! They defeated SC State 86-64. Jacobi Wright nailed four from three-point range, finishing the game with 20 points. Collin Murray-Boyles had a career night with 19 points and a career-high 16 rebounds for a double-double. The Gamecocks will play Towson tomorrow at 7 p.m.
🔺 Battle Tested. The top-ranked women’s basketball team defeated No. 9 NC State 71-57 in yesterday’s Ally Tipoff in Charlotte. Te-Hina Paopao led the Gamecocks with 23 points. MiLaysia Fulwiley wasn’t far behind, with 18 points off the bench. Together, the two shot 50% from the field. The win marked No. 40 in a row for South Carolina.
🔺 Now We Wait. The women’s soccer team fell to No. 21 Texas in the SEC Tournament championship game, 1-0. Christina Tsaousis recorded three saves in the goal. The Gamecocks will learn their NCAA Tournament fate today during the selection show at 4 p.m.
🔺 Rainy Day. The men’s soccer team had a similar outcome, losing to Kentucky 1-0 in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinals on a rainy Sunday night. Goalkeeper Filip Versterre finished the match with four saves. The Wildcats led the night 5-1 in shots on goal.
🔺 Headed To The ‘Ship. Women’s tennis players Kaitlyn Carnicella and Sarah Hamner have qualified for the NCAA Individual Championships! They won their quarterfinal singles matches at the ITA Sectional Championships to automatically qualify. Hamner went on to win the ITA East Sectional Singles Championship on Sunday. They’ll both compete at the NCAAs later this month.
On the men’s side, Lucas de Silva qualified for the NCAA Individual Championship after winning his quarterfinal match.
