🔺 Nod From Dodd. Gamecock head football coach Shane Beamer was named The Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week! The award honors a football coach who led his team to a significant victory the previous week while also embodying the award’s three pillars of scholarship, leadership, and integrity. Coach Beamer has won three games over AP Top-10 opponents throughout his time at South Carolina.
🔺 Got The Edge. Freshman EDGE rusher Dylan Stewart was named the Shaun Alexander Freshman Player of the Week! He recorded two solo tackles, including a fourth-quarter sack. According to PFF College, he posted nine quarterback pressures and a 90.0 pass-rush grade.
🏆 Torricelli Simpkins III was named the Outland Trophy National Player of the Week.
🏆 LaNorris Sellers was named the Davey O’Brien National Co-Quarterback of the Week. He surpassed 350 total yards of offense and scored three touchdowns.
🏆 Hunter Rogers was nominated for the 2024 Burlsworth Trophy. The award goes to the most outstanding football player who began his career as a walk-on and has shown outstanding performance on the field.
🔺 Senior Night Success. The men’s soccer team celebrated Senior Night with a 3-0 win over Georgia Southern! Goalkeeper Filip Versterre finished the match with a season-high eight saves. Harrison Myring scored his 10th goal of the season, the most by a Gamecock since 2015. Jack Burgess and Grant Mateer also scored in the win. The Gamecocks finish the regular season in a three-way tie for third and earn the No. 5 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. They’ll play Kentucky on Sunday at 7 p.m.
🔺 Onto The Semis. The women’s soccer team beat Alabama 4-1 to advance to the semifinals of the SEC Tournament! Cat Barry recorded a brace for half of the Gamecock goals. She set the new program record for career points with 121. Sophomores Amanda Patrick and Autumn Cayelli scored their first career goals. South Carolina will play No. 1 seed Mississippi State tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.
