The Gamecock Insider is back for the 2025-2026 season to bring you all things South Carolina Athletics. On our first episode of the year, Derek Scott talks about the start of basketball season, previews the first episode of our 1984 football documentary, and catches you up on a new standard for the Gamecocks.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 New Additions. South Carolina football has added three new staff members!

• Kendal Briles has been named the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Gamecocks. He previously held similar roles at TCU, Arkansas, Florida State, Houston, FAU, and Baylor.

• Stan Drayton will serve as the running backs coach and assistant head coach for offense. He’s a 33-year coaching veteran, has mentored numerous prominent running backs, and coached seven 1,000-yard rushers. He has extensive experience in the SEC and has worked for both college and NFL teams, including national championship-winning staffs at Florida and Ohio State.

• Randy Clements will coach the offensive line. He’s a 35-year coaching veteran and spent last season with Kendal Briles at TCU. He has extensive experience coaching offensive lines at the collegiate level, including Baylor, where he helped lead the team to back-to-back Big 12 championships.

🔺 Back In Action. After a week of final exams, the Gamecocks are back on the court! The men’s basketball team will host The Citadel tomorrow at 7 p.m. on SEC Network+. Level up your game day with these game day experiences!

🔺 Sunday Shots. The third-ranked women’s basketball team will host Penn State on Sunday! The game will tipoff at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN. The Gamecocks are coming off wins over No. 22 Louisville and NC Central, while the Lady Lions are coming off two losses.
