The Story: Why We Play. A great year for Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks culminated in perhaps the biggest Palmetto Bowl in history. A nine-win regular season, a state championship, a premiere bowl bid. It was all on the line as South Carolina traveled to the upstate, looking to make it back-to-back wins in Memorial Stadium. 🔺 Stage Is Set. It’s Cheez-It Citrus Bowl time! The No. 15 Gamecocks will play No. 20 Illinois today at 3 p.m. at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. The game will air on ABC. This is South Carolina’s fourth trip to a bowl game in Orlando and the first since 2013. The Gamecocks have won their last six games, including four over ranked teams. They look to bring home their fourth trophy this season.
