Tailgate Talks: Michael Roth - Get ready for a series of star-studded Gamecock baseball guests joining the tailgate! Stephen Garcia and Patrick DiMarco may have made their names on the gridiron, but they just happen to be classmates with some of the biggest names in South Carolina baseball history. Up first is a guy that toed the rubber under the brightest lights time and again: Michael Roth. Stay tuned for episodes with Christian Walker and Ray Tanner in the coming weeks!

COMING SOON: The Follow: Gamecock Baseball - Season 3 - The Gamecocks+ docuseries, "The Follow," is returning for a third season with Gamecock baseball as the Paul Mainieri era gets underway. Let us take you inside the program all season long as the legendary coach tries to lead the Gamecocks back to Omaha in his first season in Columbia. Episode one is set to premiere this month!

🔺 Feelin’ Sharpe. Former Gamecock Sterling Sharpe was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025! He will become the first Gamecock in the Pro Football Hall of Fame when he’s inducted later this year. He left South Carolina as the all-time leading receiver with 169 catches for 2,497 yards. His No. 2 jersey was retired after the 1987 season, becoming the second Gamecock to have his jersey retired while he was still active at the school. After being drafted by the Green Bay Packers, he became one of Brett Favre’s favorite targets. He will join his brother Shannon in the Hall of Fame, becoming the first pair of brothers to be enshrined.

🔺 From The Top. South Carolina Athletics Director Jeremiah Donati announced that he will be sending monthly newsletters to keep Gamecock fans in the know of what’s going on in the department. In his first newsletter, he breaks down the upcoming changes in the NIL space, including revenue sharing, scholarships, and what the future may look like. He also announced that he’ll be doing a quarterly podcast with Brad Muller on Gamecocks+.

🔺 Carolina’s Best. Two former Gamecocks will be inducted into the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame! All-American catcher Landon Powell will be honored for his time at South Carolina from 2001-04. In 2004, he was drafted in the first round by the Oakland Athletics, and he now serves as the head baseball coach at North Greenville University, where he and his team won the 2022 NCAA DII National Championship. Women’s basketball’s Shannon Johnson will also be inducted. She finished her career second on the Gamecock all-time scoring list with 2,230 points. She remains the only Gamecock to average 20+ points per game over three-straight seasons. She was a five-time WNBA All-Star, then served as the head basketball coach at Coker College.
