📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Showstopping. Junior pitcher Josh Gunther has been named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Watch List. The award recognizes the top relief pitcher in NCAA DI baseball. Gunther prepares for his first year as a Gamecock, where he transferred after spending two seasons at Wake Forest.

🔺 Double Dip. South Carolina’s Joyce Edwards was named SEC co-Player of the Week and USBWA National Player of the Week after scoring 20.5 points per game and reaching 1,000 career points. Her performance helped the Gamecocks secure first place in the SEC and a historic win against Tennessee.

🔺 Change Of Plans. South Carolina’s opening weekend series against Northern Kentucky has been adjusted due to weather. The series will now be a doubleheader on Friday at 1 p.m., followed by a single game on Saturday at 2 p.m.

🔺 All In The Family. Junior beach volleyball player Annalyse Askew grew up in an athletic family, as her mother played volleyball and basketball and her father played baseball at the University of Mount Olive. Her sister played indoor volleyball at East Carolina. Askew transferred to South Carolina to play under coach Jose Loiola after hearing so many good things. She wants to play on a gritty team that opponents fear.
