Forever to Thee: The Ray Tanner Legacy: Twenty-nine years at the University of South Carolina. Two national championships as a head coach, and several more as the athletics director. Three national coach of the year awards, twenty-one NCAA Tournament appearances, and the list goes on. Ray Tanner will be remembered at USC forever for his accomplishments and accolades as a coach and administrator, but that only scratches the surface of the impact he's made on this school and community. His legacy goes much deeper.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Sweep Dreams. South Carolina swept their first series of the Paul Mainieri era! They won three over Sacred Heart, with Saturday’s game being a 14-0 run rule win. The Gamecock pitching staff came to play, striking out 45 batters and allowing just three total runs throughout the weekend. Nathan Hall led the Gamecocks offensively with four runs, four hits and four RBIs. He and Ethan Petry were the two Gamecocks with home runs.

🔺 Break Out The Brooms. Gamecock softball also had a sweeping weekend! They defeated Georgia State and Miami (OH) twice, all four in run-rule fashion. They closed the Carolina Classic with a run-rule 11-0 win over App State. This season, the Gamecocks are outscoring opponents 28-0 in the fourth inning alone.

🔺 World Class. Gamecock sprinter JaMeesia Ford continues to be the best in the world! She set a new world lead in the 200m after tying her program record of 22.34 to win at the Tiger Paw Invitational. Sylvia Chelangat ran the second-fastest 800m time in program history.

🔺 Fell Short. The fourth-ranked women’s basketball team fell to No. 7 UConn 87-58, snapping South Carolina’s 71-game home winning streak. Joyce Edwards led the Gamecocks with 17 points, while MiLaysia Fulwiley scored 11. They’ll host Arkansas on Thursday.

🔺 It Just Means More. Gamecock swim & dive is headed to Athens for the SEC Championship! The meet will run all week at the Gabrielsen Natatorium at Georgia. The women’s team is currently ranked No. 18 in the CSCAA Top 25.
