And we're off! The 2026 softball season is underway and the Gamecocks are looking to keep climbing after a stellar first season under Coach Ashley Chastain Woodard. With two weekends of play in the books and a massive west coast trip on the horizon, Brad Muller sits down with the second year coach to see what the Gamecocks have planned for an encore.

⚾️ NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS

Nearly 25 years after the conclusion of his collegiate career, Kip Bouknight still stands as the winningest pitcher in South Carolina history, and remains the program’s career leader in innings pitched (482.0), starts (66), wins (45) and strikeouts (457). His 45 victories are tied with Mississippi State’s Jeff Brantley for the most career wins in SEC history, and Bouknight also holds the conference record for innings pitched. He is the only USC baseball player ever to be named the recipient of the Golden Spikes National Player of the Year Award, and he recorded a 17-1 record in 2000. Legendary Gamecock Kip Bouknight was inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame on Feb. 12. Check out the special moment from the College Baseball Night of Champions.

🔺 Win By 10. South Carolina baseball run-ruled Gardner-Webb 12-2 last night! Will Craddock led the Gamecocks with a perfect 3-for-3 performance. Logan Sutter hit a walk-off home run in the eighth to seal the win. The Gamecocks host Army on Friday at 2 p.m.

🔺 Headin’ Out To Cali. The 13th-ranked South Carolina softball team will play five games at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic against nationally ranked opponents. They’ll begin the tournament today at 4 p.m. against Washington. All Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic games will stream on FloSports.

🔺 No Surprise Here. South Carolina women’s basketball head coach Dawn Staley is on the 2026 Naismith Women’s College Coach of the Year Watch List! Despite losing key players, Staley has the Gamecocks ranked third nationally with a re-tooled roster.

Staley and the Gamecocks will play at No. 25 Alabama tonight at 8:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.

🔺 Harris & Harrison. Gamecock men’s golfers swept SEC weekly honors this week! Frankie Harris earned SEC Golfer of the Week after winning the Puerto Rico Classic and shooting a career-best score of 200 (-16). Talan Harrison was named the SEC Freshman of the Week as he tied for 14th with a new career-low of 207 (-9).
