And we're off! The 2026 softball season is underway and the Gamecocks are looking to keep climbing after a stellar first season under Coach Ashley Chastain Woodard. With two weekends of play in the books and a massive west coast trip on the horizon, Brad Muller sits down with the second year coach to see what the Gamecocks have planned for an encore.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Kind Of A Big Deal. College Gameday is coming to Columbia! ESPN’s star-studded team will start the show at 11 a.m. on Sunday morning. The third-ranked Gamecocks will play No. 17 Ole Miss at noon on ESPN.

South Carolina downed No. 25 Alabama 76-57 on the road last night. Joyce Edwards recorded a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Madina Okot scored 16 points with 16 rebounds.

🔺 Hot Start. The 13th-ranked Gamecock softball team opened the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with an 8-1 win over Washington. Karley Shelton and Arianna Rodi hit home runs to lead the offense. Shelton finished the day with three RBIs. The Gamecocks will play No. 10 Nebraska at 1 p.m. Later, they’ll play No. 18 Oregon at 6 p.m. Both games will stream on FloSports.

🔺 Salute The Troops. Gamecock baseball will host the Salute the Troops Tournament this weekend! They’ll host Army today at 2 p.m., Navy tomorrow at 1 p.m., and Air Force on Sunday at 4 p.m. All three games will stream on SEC Network+.

🔺 Golden Girl. Gamecock diver Sophie Verzyl won the SEC Championship in the 1-meter dive after finishing with a score of 342.35. She went on to win the 3-meter dive as well. Amy Riordan broke the school record in the 200 freestyle to advance to the championship final.

🔺 Invite Only. Gamecock track & field will host the USC Invite tomorrow. It will be the final regular season indoor competition before the SEC Indoor Championship. The Gamecocks will also celebrate Senior Day for eight Gamecocks.
