🎥 GAMECOCKS UNTOLD: MEECHIE’S STORY

Just a kid from Cleveland, Ohio trying to make his family and city proud. Meechie Johnson has had one of the most unique college careers you’ll see. From playing for his hometown team to leaving for South Carolina… twice.

Outsiders had plenty of questions. The thing they didn’t have? An understanding.

Coming tonight on Gamecocks+… This is the Meechie Johnson story.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 The Friendly Confines. Add another trophy to the case.

Joyce Edwards scored 21 points, Madina Okot had 17 and the third-ranked South Carolina women’s basketball squad clinched at least a share of the SEC regular-season championship with an 85-48 victory over 17th-ranked Mississippi on Sunday afternoon.

The Gamecocks can earn their fifth straight crown outright by beating either Missouri or Kentucky in the season’s final week. The victory, their 21st straight over the Rebels, guarantees South Carolina the top seed in next month’s SEC Tournament in Greenville.

🔺 Dynamic Duo. The backcourt duo of Meechie Johnson and Mike Sharavjamts combined for 42 points to lead the South Carolina men’s hoops squad to a thrilling 97-89 win over Mississippi State on Saturday afternoon.

Johnson (21 points) added a career-high nine assists, while Sharavjamts’ 21-point outing was a career-best.

Kobe Knox had 17 points and Elijah Strong put up 16 points for the Gamecocks, who were an efficient 55.4% (31-of-56) from the floor. Eli Ellis had 13 off the bench to help South Carolina score a season-high 97 points.

🔺 Finishing Strong. The South Carolina baseball team finished their Salute The Troops weekend with back-to-back dominant pitching performances in wins over Navy (8-0) and Air Force (4-2).

The Gamecocks’ stable of arms limited the Midshipmen and Falcons to just 11 hits in 18 innings of work in the two victories.

🔺 Sideline Addition. A new face will be roaming the sidelines for the South Carolina football program next fall.

Head Coach Shane Beamer announced the addition of Matthew Smiley as the Gamecocks’ special teams coordinator. Smiley, 47, comes to Columbia after spending the 2025 season as a special teams analyst at Penn State. Overall, he has 21 years of coaching experience, logging stints at both the collegiate and professional levels.
