Tailgate Talks - Christian Walker — He became a Gamecock legend in 2010, and now ranks among the top first basemen in the game of baseball 15 years later. Christian Walker, fresh off a new contract with the Houston Astros, has just about seen it all in his baseball career. As MLB Opening Day nears, Stephen and Pat take Christian back down memory lane, talk hitting mechanics, and share stories from college and the Bigs you won't want to miss.

🔺 Bombs Away. Gamecock baseball had a whopping 15 hits in last night’s 14-4 run-rule win over Gardner-Webb! South Carolina hit five home runs - two from Jase Woita, and one from Max Kaufer, KJ Scobey, and Nathan Hall. Ethan Petry has recorded a hit in all nine games this season.

🔺 Road Warriors. Gamecock softball won their first road game last night! They defeated Charlotte 10-2 in a six-inning run-rule. They hit seven doubles, adding to their nation-leading total. Jori Heard improved to 8-0 on the season, throwing four innings. Nealy Lamb came in relief and struck out four without allowing a hit.

🔺 Road Woes. The men’s basketball team fell on the road at Missouri 101-71 last night. Collin Murray-Boyles led the Gamecocks with 27 points and seven rebounds. Jamarii Thomas was the only other Gamecock in double figures with 17 points. They’ll return home to host Arkansas on Saturday.

🔺 What A Joy. Women’s basketball’s Joyce Edwards has been named SEC Freshman of the Week! She averaged a double-double last week with 17.5 points and 10 rebounds per game. Her 10 offensive rebounds against Vanderbilt tied the program record for most offensive boards in an SEC game. MiLaysia Fulwiley was named one of the USBWA Players of the Week after leading the team in scoring with 19.5 points per game.
