Year two under head coach Paul Mainieri brings plenty of new faces, renewed energy, and a hunger to get Gamecock baseball back to the postseason. Play-by-Play announcer Derek Scott sits down with the legendary skipper to preview the 2026 campaign.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 High Standards. Gamecock softball catcher Lexi Winters excels both on and off the field, earning Second Team All-Region honors and maintaining a perfect academic record. She credits her success to her faith, hard work, and the support of her family and coaches. As she prepares for her final season, Winters reflects on her journey and expresses gratitude for the opportunities she’s had.

🔺 Shooters Shoot. South Carolina senior Ta’Niya Latson was named to the 2026 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Midseason Top 10, recognizing the top shooting guard in the country. Latson is having her most efficient scoring season, ranking highly in the SEC in scoring, field goal percentage, assists, and free throw percentage. The winner of the award will be announced in late March.

🔺 Fell Short. Gamecock men’s basketball fell at Texas 84-75 last night. Meechie Johnson scored a career-high 35 points, becoming the first Gamecock since 2017 to have multiple 30-point games in the same season. The Gamecocks will host Missouri on Saturday.
