Tailgate Talks - Christian Walker — He became a Gamecock legend in 2010, and now ranks among the top first basemen in the game of baseball 15 years later. Christian Walker, fresh off a new contract with the Houston Astros, has just about seen it all in his baseball career. 🔺 We Are The Champions. The sixth-ranked women’s basketball team is SEC Regular-Season Champions! They claimed a share of the ‘ship after beating No. 15 Kentucky 78-66. The Gamecocks and No. 1 Texas finished the season 15-1 in conference play. They split the season series, but the Gamecocks won a coin flip and will be the No. 1 seed at the SEC Tournament.

🔺 Gone Sweepin’. The 19th-ranked softball team swept No. 8 Duke on the road! They started the weekend with a 14-7 win on Friday with eight of South Carolina’s starters getting a hit. They defeated the Blue Devils on Saturday, 4-2. They secured the sweep with a 12-7 win on Sunday. The Gamecocks are now 19-0 to start the season, the best start since 1976.

🔺 On Repeat. Gamecock sprinter JaMeesia Ford has been crowned the SEC Indoor Champion in the 200m for the second-straight year! The women’s team finished second in the DMR, while the men finished third. The Gamecock women finished seventh overall, while the men finished eighth.

🔺 Big Win. Gamecock men’s basketball took down Arkansas 72-53 on Saturday! Collin Murray-Boyles scored a career-high 35 points in the win. Nick Pringle also had a big performance, scoring 18. The Gamecock defense held Arkansas to just 14 points in the first half. They’ll host Georgia tomorrow at 6 p.m. for Senior Night.

🔺 West Coast Winnin’. The eighth-ranked equestrian team picked up two wins on the West Coast over the weekend! They beat UC Davis 11-9 on Friday. On Saturday, they beat No. 6 Fresno State 11-9. It was South Carolina’s third top-10 win of the season!
