Tailgate Talks: Joe Connolly: Part 1 — Plenty of people immediately come to mind when thinking about the success of the South Carolina football program during the Spurrier era. Some of the greatest Gamecocks of all time came from those days, but there's a name you may or may not recognize that contributed greatly to the program's historic stretch: Joe Connolly. Pat and Stephen catch up with their old strength coach to give you insight on why Connolly played such a significant role in their success.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Play It Again. The fifth-ranked women’s golf team tied for first at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate! Their tie with LSU was the first team tie in the tournament's history. Louise Rydqvist was named the co-champion of the event. It’s the third-straight year a Gamecock has taken home the individual title at the event.

🔺 Among The Best. The 11th-ranked softball team has tied the best start in program history at 20-0! They defeated Youngstown State 10-2 last night. Quincee Lilio, Brooke Blankenship, Lexi Winters, and Abigail Knight all finished with two hits. Arianna Rodi led the team with three RBI. The Gamecocks will open SEC play at No. 2 Oklahoma this weekend.

🔺 All-Around Effort. Gamecock baseball defeated The Citadel on the road last night, 9-1. Jarvis Evans Jr. struck out six in a career-high seven innings on the mound. Ethan Petry and Evan Stone hit home runs in the win. The Gamecocks will host Morehead State over the weekend.

🔺 Moving On. The 2025 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship field is set! Gamecocks will be competing in six events. JaMeesia Ford will race in the 200m prelims with teammate Jayla Jamison. Zaya Akins will compete in the 400m prelims. South Carolina will compete in the 4×400m relay as they look for a second consecutive title. Cheyla Scott will compete in the high jump finals. Anthony Greenhow will compete in the men’s 200m prelims, while CJ Licata and Dylan Targgart will compete in the shot put. The championships will take place March 14-15.
