🔺 Legendary Status. Women’s basketball head coach Dawn Staley has been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Staley, who has led the Gamecocks to three national championships and coached the U.S. Olympic team to three gold medals, joins a prestigious group of leaders in various fields. Beyond her coaching achievements, Staley is a strong advocate for equity in women’s sports and supports at-risk youth through her foundation.

🔺 Extra, Extra. Read all about it! South Carolina softball downed North Carolina 16-14 in extra innings on the road. The Gamecocks were led by four home runs and 17 hits. Tori Ensley went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs.

🔺 Tourney Time. The No. 15 South Carolina beach volleyball team, seeded fourth, will compete in the 2026 Big 12 Beach Volleyball Championships in Tucson, Arizona. They will play No. 5 Boise State today at 2:30 p.m., then No. 1 Florida State at 5 p.m.

🔺 Earned It. Women’s tennis junior Kaitlyn Carnicella earned All-SEC Second Team honors for the second time in her career. She compiled a 17-9 singles record and an 11-11 doubles record, playing from the No. 1 position in singles and a combination of positions in doubles.

🔺 Family, Fun, & Horses. Junior equestrian rider Alexis Potts helped her team win the NCEA National Championship and earned individual accolades. Coming from a family of accomplished riders, she credits her success to a low-pressure environment fostered by her father, the team’s Western coach. Beyond riding, Potts is passionate about fashion, running an online boutique, and enjoys exploring coffee shops in Columbia.

🔺 Schedule’s Set. The 2026 SEC volleyball schedule for South Carolina includes 15 matches, with seven home games and eight away games. The Gamecocks open conference play on September 23 against Georgia and conclude on November 15 against Tennessee.
