🔺 Heard That. Softball’s Jori Heard pitched a complete game, allowing only four hits and one run, as the No. 25 Gamecocks defeated No. 7 Tennessee 5-1 on Friday night. Tori Ensley led the Gamecock offense with a home run and two RBIs. South Carolina went on to fall on Saturday, 4-2, despite Jamie Mackay’s 2-for-3 night.
🔺 National Runner-Up. South Carolina women’s basketball finished as the NCAA Runner-Up, falling to UCLA 79-51 in the championship game. Despite strong performances from Tessa Johnson and Joyce Edwards, the Gamecocks struggled offensively and were out-rebounded by the Bruins. This marks the second consecutive season South Carolina finished as runner-up, following their 2024 National Championship win.
🔺 Shining In The Sunshine State. The Gamecocks concluded day one of the Florida Relays with several top performances as Jathiyah Muhammad set a program record in the women’s pole vault, while Akala Garrett won the women’s 400-meter hurdles. On day two, they recorded 10 new top 10 program marks, including a new program record in the women’s 800 meters by Salma Elbadra. The women also won the 4×400 meter and 4×100 meter relays. Josiah Wrice won the men’s 400 meters, while Khaliq Muhammad won the men’s pole vault.
🔺 Senior Day Success. The No. 13 South Carolina men’s tennis team defeated No. 19 Vanderbilt 4-1 in their final regular-season home match. The Gamecocks clinched the doubles point and won three singles matches to secure the victory on Senior Day.
🔺 Comeback Kids. The No. 33 South Carolina women’s tennis team defeated Kentucky 4-3. After losing the doubles point, the Gamecocks won four singles matches, including comeback victories from Helena Buchwald and Sara Borkop, to secure the win.
