Tailgate Talks: Whit Merrifield — Where were you for Whit's hit? Every Gamecock fan can answer that question. Next up on the Tailgate is South Carolina baseball legend, Whit Merrifield. A guy who came in the same time as Stephen and Pat, Whit made a name for himself in Columbia before going on to play in the big leagues for nearly a decade.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 In-State Battle. Gamecock baseball is back in action tonight! They’ll host USC Upstate at 6:30 p.m. on SEC Network+. Take advantage of the Early Bird Special and enjoy discounted concessions, starting at 5:15 p.m.

🔺 Nation’s Lead. Gamecock track & field had a successful weekend in Florida! They earned a pair of NCAA leading marks and had a trio of program Top 10 identifiers at the Florida Relays. JaMeesia Ford ran an NCAA leading time and the third fastest time in program history, winning the 400m. CJ Licata took the NCAA lead in the shot put with a distance of 20.17m. The men’s team closed the weekend with a runner-up finish in the 4×400m relay.

🔺 Sweep Victory. The No. 21 men’s tennis team picked up two big wins over the weekend! They started strong with a 4-3 upset over No. 18 Tennessee. They capped the weekend with a 4-0 sweep over No. 26 Georgia, securing the 10th SEC win of the season.
