Demetrius Knight played sparingly his first four years in college, but became a fan favorite in a matter of a few months in the Garnet & Black. D-Knight joins the Tailgate right after his life-changing phone call on NFL Draft night.

🔺 Forever In Columbia. Yesterday, the City of Columbia unveiled a statue of women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley! Gamecocks in attendance included Coach Steve Spurrier and his wife Jerri, Coach Lamont Paris and his staff, and the women’s basketball team. Fans can see the statue at the intersection of Senate St. and Lincoln St.

🔺 Keep It Rollin’. The 14th-ranked South Carolina softball team will close out the regular season at home this weekend! They’ll begin a three-game series tonight at 6 p.m., hosting Alabama. With summer right around the corner, we’re giving away Gamecock softball straw hats to the first 200 fans! Those at home can watch the game on SEC Network+.

🔺 So Golden. Gamecock men’s golf is headed west! They earned the No. 4 seed at the NCAA Bremerton Regional. They’ll play at the Gold Mountain Golf Club, May 12-14. The Gamecocks are looking for their first NCAA Championship appearance since 2019.

🔺 Recognizing Greats. Members of the 1975, 2010, and 2011 baseball teams will be at Ray Tanner Field at Founders Park this weekend! This is the 50th anniversary of the program’s first College World Series appearance and the ‘75 crew will be honored before Friday night’s game. The ‘10 and ‘11 teams, along with the families of Charlie Peters and Bayler Teal, will be honored on Saturday.

🔺 Teaming Up. Two Gamecocks will be playing together again at the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup! Senior All-American Louise Rydqvist and freshman Eila Galitsky were named to Team International for the tournament. The event will be held at Congaree Golf Club in Ridgeland, South Carolina, June 5-7. Additionally, head coach Kalen Anderson was named Co-Head Coach for Team USA.
