Tailgate Talks: Mike Uva — There are some conflicting reports around our next guest on the Tailgate, so let's go to the source, himself. Mike Uva, a transplant from New England, has made a name for himself as a Gamecock insider, covering South Carolina athletics for a decade. How did he get his start, what are the biggest stories he's reported on, and how does one become an "insider?"

🔺 Oregon Trail. Gamecock women’s track & field punched 11 tickets to Oregon for the NCAA Championships! Cameran Gist qualified in the triple jump, while Cheyla Scott advanced in the high jump. JaMeesia Ford and Cynteria James each punched tickets in the 100m and 200m, along with the advancing 4×100m relay and 4×400m relay teams. Jayla Jamison will join them in the 200m race. Salma Elbadra punched her ticket in the 1500m, while Zaya Akins advanced in the 400m.

🔺 Jumping To Eugene. The men’s track & field team sends three jumpers to the NCAA Championships! Theo Mudzengerere booked his second trip to an NCAA Outdoor Championships as he set a new personal best in the triple jump. Channing Ferguson and Nate Figgers secured spots in the high jump. CJ Licata and Dylan Targgart will be joining the jumpers in Eugene, Oregon.

🔺 Representing Regionally. Men’s golfer Frankie Harris was named PING All-Southeast Region by the GCAA! He tied for second at the NCAA Bremerton Regional to help get the Gamecocks to the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2019. He’s two career wins shy of tying for most in program history.
