"Schnall Ball" has landed in Columbia! Here's your very first chance to hear from new University of South Carolina head baseball coach, Kevin Schnall. After spending more than two decades at Coastal Carolina, the 2025 Baseball America College Coach of the Year takes over for the Gamecocks, ready to compete in the SEC. In his first appearance as Carolina's new skipper, Schnall shares his philosophy on hitting, the transfer portal, and why now was the right time to make the move to USC.

🔺 Coming Together. Gamecock baseball head coach Kevin Schnall announced staff additions on Friday! Additions include associate head coach and outfield coach Chad Oxendine, associate head coach and hitting coach Bill Cilento, pitching coach Matt Williams, recruiting coordinator and catching coach Tyler Shewmaker, director of pitching development Dylan Eskew, general manager and director of analytics Matt Pepin, director of baseball operations Mickey Beach, and director of baseball performance Michael Thomson.

🔺 Roster Rounded Out. Gamecock men’s basketball coach Lamont Paris complete his roster with three new additions on Friday. Mathias Alessanco comes to Columbia from Joinville, Brazil and will redshirt this season as he recovers from a torn ACL. Nasir Hines is a 6-10 forward who transfers to South Carolina from Palm Beach State College. Ford Wilder is a 6-4 guard who played at Wilson Hall High School in Sumter, South Carolina. He scored over 1,300 points, averaging 23.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.8 steals, 1.5 assists, and 1 block as a senior.

🔺 New Addition. Gamecock swimming & diving has hired Jake Shrum as associate head coach! He will work with both the men’s and women’s programs. He comes to Columbia after spending four years at Virginia in the same role, guiding the Cavalier women to four consecutive NCAA National Championships.
