50 Years of Women’s Sports — As we wrap up our year-long celebration of 50 years of women’s sports at the University of South Carolina, we take a look back at some of the most influential voices that got it all started. From the first female athletes receiving a scholarship, to the ones who helped change the game along the way, these women laid the foundation for the incredible success we’re seeing today.

🔺 In Good Hands. Gamecock head coach Shane Beamer and running back Oscar Adaway III are among 197 nominees for the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. The team recognizes college football student-athletes and coaches for their commitment to community service and leadership off the field.
Coach Beamer and his wife Emily founded the Beamer Family Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering children and families through educational, health, and community support initiatives. Adaway III has been part of the SEC Leadership Conference Service Project, Shop with the Jocks, Cocky’s All Sport Camp, and much more.
