The Story: Why We Play — A great year for Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks culminated in perhaps the biggest Palmetto Bowl in history. A nine win regular season, a state championship, a premiere bowl bid. It was all on the line as South Carolina traveled to the upstate, looking to make it back to back wins in Memorial Stadium. 🔺 Welcome To The Show. Former Gamecock Carlos Cortes has been called up by the Athletics! He was having a great season with the Las Vegas Aviators, the Athletics’ Triple-A affiliate. Cortes was hitting .322 with 24 doubles, 17 home runs, and 77 RBI. This is his first year with the organization as he started his pro career with the New York Mets.

🔺 Fall Ball. South Carolina baseball will play two fall scrimmages! They’ll host Charlotte on November 2, free and open to the public. They’ll hit the road to play at the College of Charleston on November 6. Team practice will begin on October 7.

🔺 High Praise. Men’s golfer Frankie Harris came in at No. 12 in the PGA TOUR University Preseason Rankings for the Class of 2026. He became the first All-American under head coach Rob Bradley and the 28th Gamecock to earn the status. Harris helped lead South Carolina to the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2019.

The Gamecock family mourns the loss of longtime men’s basketball administrative assistant Susan Hook. She passed away last week with her family by her side after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She dedicated 25 seasons to the program from 2001-25, working for four head coaches.
