Tailgate Talks: Adam Prentice — Another fullback! We found one! How often do you get the chance to have two fullbacks in the same (virtual) room? If you like talking ball, run schemes, and blitz pickup in the A gap, this week's episode is for you. Former Gamecock and the newest Denver Bronco, Adam Prentice, tells his story and gets us in the fullback mindset for a big matchup against Missouri this weekend.

⚽️ JERSEY RETIREMENT

Gamecock women’s soccer announced that former All-American and two-time SEC Offensive Player of the Year Savannah McCaskill will have her jersey retired! There will be a ceremony when the Gamecocks play Texas A&M on Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. as South Carolina celebrates Alumni Weekend.

McCaskill became the third SEC Freshman of the Year in program history. She held the program record for goals in a season, points in a season, season and career game winning goals, career shots, and career shots on goal. She has played in the NWSL for the past eight years and is currently a starting midfielder for the San Diego Wave.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Break The Stigma. The 15th-ranked women’s soccer team is back for its first home SEC match of the season! They’ll host Ole Miss tonight at 7 p.m. on SEC Network+. It’s Mental Health Awareness night and fans are asked to wear green in support! The first 300 fans will receive mental health stickers and stress balls.

🔺 Just Warming Up. The 12th-ranked women’s golf team finished fifth at the Stephens Cup. Their match play bid fell just shy against an elite field of competition that featured six top-15 teams. Alicia Olsson and Eila Galitsky led the Gamecocks as they finished tied for ninth at 3-over.

 

🔺 Catching Up. Former South Carolina cross country runner Dana (Purser) House has no problem being a pioneer in the sport. She was a member of the first Gamecock cross country team in 1987. She went on to start the cross country program at Bluffton High School, leading the teams to multiple state championships over 21 years. She enjoyed coaching beginners and fostering a lifelong passion for running. Now retired, House works as a lead counselor at Bluffton High School and enjoys spending time with her family.
