Tailgate Talks: Adam Prentice — Another fullback! We found one! How often do you get the chance to have two fullbacks in the same (virtual) room? If you like talking ball, run schemes, and blitz pickup in the A gap, this week's episode is for you. Former Gamecock and the newest Denver Bronco, Adam Prentice, tells his story and gets us in the fullback mindset for a big matchup against Missouri this weekend.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 True Test. Gamecock football hits the road for its first true road test of the season. They’ll play at No. 23 Missouri for the Mayor’s Cup tomorrow at 7 p.m. on ESPN. The Mayor’s Cup is one of three trophy games for South Carolina this season.

📖 Game Notes

🔺 Sweep Dreams. Gamecock men’s golfers swept SEC weekly awards this week! Frankie Harris was named the SEC Player of the Week after being crowned co-champion at the Gopher Invitational. August Petersson earned SEC Freshman of the Week after earning runner-up medalist honors at the Minnesota Golf Classic, where he competed as an individual.

🔺 First Timer. Women’s golfer Eila Galitsky earned SEC Women’s Golfer of the Week for the first time in her career! She was co-medalist at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, where she was the only player in the 60-women field with multiple eagles on her scorecard. She also tied for ninth-place at the Stephens Cup.

🔺 Trickery. The 15th-ranked women’s soccer team started SEC play with a 4-0 win over Ole Miss! Katie Shea Collins recorded a hat trick in the first half, the third of her career. She leads the team with seven goals and 15 points this season. Emma Kirlin recorded a career-high five saves in the shutout win. The Gamecocks will play at Florida on Sunday at 4 p.m.

🔺 Pizza Party. The men’s soccer team opens Sun Belt Conference play tonight! They’ll host Georgia State at 7 p.m. on ESPN+. The first 500 students will receive free pizza! The Gamecocks went 5-3 in non-conference play, including a win at No. 11 UNCG.

🔺 Back In Action. Gamecock cross country will compete in the Adidas XC Challenge today at 5:55 p.m. The meet features 18 women’s team, 12 of them NCAA DI teams. This is South Carolina’s first appearance at the meet since 2019.
