Have you ever wondered how Alex Huntley came to be known as Boogie? In this week’s all-new episode of Gamecock Talk, we’re sitting down with South Carolina’s standout defensive tackle to talk about why he stayed home in Columbia, what being a leader on this team means to him, and how he got his nickname.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 On To The Tournament. What a regular season it was for South Carolina women’s soccer! Four Gamecocks earned SEC honors ahead of the start of the SEC Tournament. Senior forward Cat Barry, fifth-year goalie Heather Hinz, and sophomore defender Gracie Falla landed on the All-SEC First Team, while freshman Reagan Schubach earned SEC All-Freshman team recognition.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Hinz earned SEC Goalkeeper of the Year honors, and Falla earned SEC Defender of the Year!

Hinz posted nine shutouts, including six against SEC foes, for a total of 31 career shutouts in the Garnet & Black. That’s good for the third-best all-time in South Carolina program history. She also tallied nine saves against Texas A&M — the most in a single game in the SEC all season. Meanwhile, Falla scored back-to-back game-winning goals this season, the first two goals of her career.

The Gamecocks will start the SEC Tournament on Halloween with a 3:30pm ET battle against Texas A&M. The Gamecocks are the third seed, while the Aggies come in seeded sixth. Check out the full schedule for the tournament here.

🔼 Get Better. Linebacker Jaron Willis made his season debut for the Gamecocks and the Ole Miss transfer made the most of his opportunity. Willis recorded a big-time sack on Aggies’ QB Max Johnson, which led to a forced fumble. After the game, Coach Beamer talked about what he saw from Willis on the field:

“He just continues to get better. They work, they get better, and they get opportunities on the field. We went to Jaron on Sunday and talked about the package we are going to put in for you and Bam and kind of all you guys to do what you did today. Did a great job with it. Certainly, we need to continue to expand it.”

🔼 To The City Of Lights. Don’t forget to come out to Colonial Life Arena tomorrow to celebrate Halloween and send Gamecock women’s hoops off to Paris in style! The Gamecocks are hosting an open practice from 5:00-8:00pm ET tomorrow with post-practice trick-or-treating and pumpkin painting. See you there!
