Last year didn't end the way Raven and the Gamecocks wanted it to, so this year's team is on a mission. After losing "the freshies" this squad wants to prove they aren't going anywhere. On this episode of Gamecock Talk hear from Raven Johnson on what motivates her, what she loves about this year's team, and what made her fall in love with the game of basketball.

🔼 Take Me Out To The Ball Game. Circle your calendars and start daydreaming about spring because Gamecock baseball’s non-conference slate is here! South Carolina will open its 2024 season in Columbia with a three-game series against Miami (Ohio) beginning on February 16. The Gamecocks are scheduled to battle Clemson in a three-game series from March 1-3, with the first game at Founders Park, the second at Segra Park, and the third in Clemson. Check out the rest of the non-conference schedule here.

🔼 Sunday Cinematics. Have you seen this week’s Sunday Cinematics featuring Gamecock men’s basketball yet?

🔼 Stay Patient. Meechie Johnson is a huge part of South Carolina men’s basketball’s early-season success. After getting into some first-half foul trouble against East Carolina, Johnson knew he had to light it up after the break to put his team in the best position to win and he finished the day tied for the team lead with 15 points.

“Just to be able to be in that position late, my team trusted me,” Johnson said after the game. “So I knew they were focused on other guys going into the second half because Myles (Stute) was cooking, BJ (Mack) was getting things going. So I had to keep myself ready and not force it, stay patient. And that’s what I did. My teammates found me. I was able to get downhill, get some good finishes.”

🔼 X Factor In The Pros. Yesterday, we talked about Xavier Legette as South Carolina’s X factor, and today, we’re talking about another Gamecock who brings that same spark to his team. On Sunday afternoon, Deebo Samuel became the second player in NFL history, and the first since the merger, to post at least 100 receiving yards, one receiving touchdown, and one rushing touchdown in back-to-back games.

🤔 GAMECOCK TRIVIA

Hauled In. Deebo Samuel is tied for second all-time in South Carolina history for most receiving yards in a single game with 210 yards against Clemson in 2018. Do you know who he’s tied with?
