🔼 Protecting The Ball. One key ingredient contributing to Gamecock men’s basketball’s early-season success so far? In the team’s last three games, they’ve posted 17 total turnovers, and Coach Paris loves the growth that he’s seeing from his guys.

“I think, a lot of times, turnovers come from trying to do too much. Honestly, a lot of times, that’s the case,” Coach Paris said. “We don’t have guys trying to do too much. I think the guys are comfortable in their own skin. They’re comfortable with passing the ball to someone else knowing that the energy of the ball will eventually return to them and they’ll get some looks…We’ve got some good decision-makers in there.”

🔼 Gamecocks In The NFL. It was a big week for our Gamecocks as the NFL wrapped up Week 13! Ernest Jones remained hot with 15 tackles in the Rams’ win over the Browns, giving him 108 tackles on the season. San Francisco’s Javon Kinlaw recorded his first two sacks of the season en route to a monster game, finishing the day with four tackles, two for a loss, two sacks, and two QB hurries. Keisean Nixon came in clutch for the Packers with a critical interception, five tackles, and a pass defended as Green Bay beat the Chiefs, while Jaycee Horn returned to the field for the Panthers after an injury kept him sidelined, and he picked up where he left off with five tackles and a pass defended.

On the other side of the ball, Deebo Samuel went full Deebo Samuel, catching four passes for 116 yards and a touchdown, then adding three rushes for 22 yards and a touchdown.

🔼 Conference Standouts. Xavier Legette and Debo Williams both earned Associated Press All-SEC honors this week! Legette landed on the second team for both wide receiver and all-purpose performer and Williams earned second-team honors for his work at linebacker.

Three Gamecocks also earned spots on the Coaches All-SEC teams: Hunter Rogers, Xavier Legette, and Trey Knox were all selected to represent the Garnet & Black. Rogers earned first-team recognition at long snapper, while Legette and Knox both earned a spot on the second team.

🤔 GAMECOCK TRIVIA

No Turnovers Here. Prior to South Carolina’s win over George Washington, the fewest turnovers the team posted in a single game was four. Do you know in what year that happened?
