🔼 Conference Champs. South Carolina women’s basketball is your regular season and your SEC Tournament champions!

Dawn Staley’s group won a thrilling championship game, 79-72, against LSU yesterday afternoon, and it was all made possible by the Kamilla Cardoso buzzer-beating three-pointer we still can’t stop watching.

With the win, the Gamecocks solidified their eighth SEC Tournament win in program history — and eighth in the last 10 seasons. MiLaysia Fulwiley and Kamilla Cardoso both earned nods on the All-Tournament team, while MiLaysia grabbed the title of the tourney’s Most Outstanding Player.

Here are some of our favorite post-game moments:

🔼 Closed It Out. It was a thriller on the hardwood as the No. 17/16 Gamecock men’s basketball squad hit the road to take on Mississippi State on Saturday afternoon. The Gamecocks got 25 points — with seven coming in the extra frame — from B.J. Mack and 19 from Collin Murray-Boyles in a hard-fought 93-89 OT win. With the victory, the Gamecocks sit at 25-6, setting a new program record for most regular-season wins, and have won an incredible seven conference road games, which ties the 1996-97 team for best mark in Garnet & Black history.

And now all eyes turn to the SEC Tournament. The Gamecocks are the tourney’s fifth seed and start play in the second round on Thursday, March 14. They’ll take on the winner of No. 13 Vanderbilt vs. No. 12 Arkansas. Full bracket here.

🔼 Get The Brooms. That’s a sweep for Gamecock baseball! South Carolina took Sunday’s final game of the series, 22-6, after a monster 11-running sixth inning. The Gamecocks outscored Longwood, 42-8, across all three games.

On Friday night, South Carolina got its scoring from the long ball with four homers: two from Dylan Brewer, one from Cole Messina, and another from Ethan Petry, while Eli Jones picked up his second win of the season with five strikeouts in six innings.

The squad picked up on Saturday right where they left off; Cole Messina added two more homers, Gavin Casas rocketed three hits, and Ethan Petry added two hits. Dylan Eskew nabbed the win on the mound.

And finally, on Sunday, Tyler Causey had five RBIs to lead the Gamecocks while Kennedy Jones added four as South Carolina erupted for 13 hits en route to crossing home 22 times. Connor McCreery was the day’s winning pitcher, getting to 1-0 on the season.

It’s time for the squad to hit the road; the Gamecocks will play Georgia State on Tuesday evening in a neutral site game before traveling to Oxford for a three-game weekend series against Ole Miss to open conference play.
