Roman Kimball and Tyler Causey aren’t new to the game of baseball, but both are back on the diamond after time away from the field — and they’re making a bigger impact than ever. Kimball battled back from Tommy John surgery that kept him sidelined last season, while Causey took a year away from the game before transferring to South Carolina. We’re deep-diving into their stories and the impact they’ve had in the Garnet & Black in an all-new episode of The Follow, streaming tonight on Gamecocks+!

🔼 Back To 2008. In the first of a two-part series, The State is taking us back to 2008, and the pivotal moment when South Carolina hired Dawn Staley to lead its women’s basketball program. Hear directly from those who were there, including Coach Staley, South Carolina’s president at the time, Dr. Harris Pastides, former Athletic Director Eric Hyman, and former Gamecock women’s hoops players about how it all came together in the days leading up to what would eventually become one of the biggest dynasties in women’s college basketball history.

🔼 Rookie Impact. For the second time this season, Jelani Sarr is the SEC men’s tennis Freshman of the Week. Sarr picked up his 19th singles win of the season as South Carolina defeated Arkansas. The freshman is now 2-1 all-time in SEC singles play and 19-13 in the Garnet & Black.

🔼 Taking His Shot. Dakereon Joyner has one word on his mind: “NFL.” The former Gamecock is ready for his shot at the next level, and he sat down with The Post and Courier’s David Cloninger to talk more about his goals, and how he’ll spend the next few weeks leading up to the NFL Draft.

🔼 Watch With Them. FAMS, come on out to Colonial Life Arena and watch the Selection Show alongside South Carolina women’s basketball. Admission is free and we can’t wait to see the bracket revealed with you! More details here.
