Cock-A-Doodle Brew 3/27: It goes through one team
Today: Running wild, the stage is set, and more.

Good morning. Is there anything the incredible Coach Staley can’t do?
What else is mixed into today’s Brew? ⤵️
🏀 Goes through one team
👟 Running wild

In today’s Brew, we’re looking back on SEC play, and the incredible moments this year’s Gamecock men’s hoops team delivered.
Chapter 3: Stay Ready: SEC play is upon us, and it's time to prove this Gamecock team has what it takes to compete, night in and night out. A fast start with wins over Mississippi State and Missouri is exactly what Lamont Paris and his club had in mind. Relive the late-game heroics through the eyes of the ones who made it happen when their number was called.
Chapter 4: A New Era: Caught at a pivotal point in the season, how would Lamont Paris and his team respond after a home loss to Georgia? How about a wire-to-wire win at Arkansas and a clobbering of the No. 6 Kentucky Wildcats leading to a court storming for the ages? Respect 'em or don't, but either way, this team isn't going anywhere. It's a new era of South Carolina basketball.

🔼 Goes Through One Team. ESPN’s Pat McAfee is impressed by what he’s seeing from South Carolina women’s basketball. On his show earlier this week, McAfee talked about where this year’s Gamecocks stack up against…well, every other team he’s ever seen take the court.
“They are unstoppable. This South Carolina team may be the most dominant basketball team I’ve ever seen on the court … That South Carolina team’s going to be a problem… that women’s tournament seemingly goes through one team and one team alone, and that’s the team that hasn’t lost yet and doesn’t seem to be anywhere close.”
🔼 Sweet 16. And speaking of the women’s basketball tournament, the stage is set for the Sweet 16. The Gamecocks will take on fourth-seeded Indiana on Friday at 5:00pm ET in Albany. You can catch the game on ESPN.
🔼 Keep Rolling. The bats stayed hot for Gamecock baseball last night as the team beat Presbyterian, 19-14, for their sixth win in a row. South Carolina opened the game with a bang, scoring seven runs in the first inning. Ethan Petry and Dalton Reeves each belted two homers, Kennedy Jones hit his fifth of the season, and Petry plated his 100th career RBI in the Garnet & Black.
🔼 Got It Now. LaNorris Sellers embraced the lessons he learned last season, and reflected on how his first year in Columbia prepared him for what’s next as he suits up in the Garnet & Black.
“I’m a lot more comfortable. Last year was kind of just fast-paced. Everything was going foo foo foo,” he said. “I knew the stuff, but to get out there on the field and seeing it for the first time in full SEC speed, you’re lost. But now it’s like, I’ve got it now. I know everything now. So it’s a lot easier for me.”
🔼 Running Wild. Three Gamecocks earned awards this week after a stellar start to the outdoor season for South Carolina Track & Field. JaMeesia Ford and Nyck Harbor both won SEC Freshmen of the Week, while Cynteria James earned USTFCCCA D1 National Athlete of the Week!
It’s the fifth time Ford has earned SEC Women’s Freshman of the Week during her rookie campaign, and the first of the outdoor season. Meanwhile, Harbor picked up two wins during the Weems Baskin Invitational in the 100m and the 4×100, while James posted the fastest time in program history in the women’s 100m.
