Changing Expectations: Chapter 6: As we near March, and a possible tournament bid, everyone knows it takes every player and coach on the team to make a deep run-- but what if it takes even more than that? A name many Gamecock fans might be familiar with is back with the team, and might be even more valuable now than in the 90s when he was known as "The Captain." In our latest chapter of Changing Expectations, the team hits their first real speed bump, but between the veteran players, seasoned coaches, and the man affectionately called "The Godfather of South Carolina Basketball," they're back on track and poised to make a run.

🔼 29-0. Next stop: SEC Tournament time! South Carolina women’s hoops closed out the regular season at home yesterday afternoon the same way they started it: with a win! The Gamecocks knocked off Tennessee, 76-68, on Senior Day at Colonial Life Arena as Kamilla Cardoso did what Kamilla Cardoso does best: post a double-double. Cardoso finished with 18 points and 14 boards, while Te-Hina Paopao (14), Bree Hall (13), MiLaysia Fulwiley (13), and Ashlyn Watkins (13) all ended the afternoon in double figures.

🔼 She’s Perfect. Jori Heard turned in a perfect game in the circle for South Carolina softball on Saturday afternoon as the Gamecocks defeated Bethune-Cookman, 4-0. Heard finished the day with four strikeouts and posted her second complete game shutout of the young season.

Meanwhile, the Gamecocks took the field again on Sunday and closed out the Knights Classic without a loss, getting to 18-2 on the season. South Carolina knocked off Princeton, 4-1, behind the hot hitting of Carlie Henderson, who finished the day for 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored, and the hot pitching of Sage Mardjetko, who struck out a season-high eight batters in a complete game effort.

🔼 Need For Speed. The NFL Combine is in the books, and Xavier Legette took full advantage of the opportunity, showcasing his speed this weekend. Legette ran a 4.39 second 40-yard dash, posted a 40-inch vertical leap, and a 10-foot-six-inch broad jump. Look at that man go.

🔼 Win, Win, Win. Gamecock men’s basketball picked up its 24th win of the season in a come-from-behind thriller against No. 24 Florida this weekend. With the win, this year’s team has tied for fourth place all-time for the most single-season victories in program history.

Meechie Johnson stole the show for the Gamecocks with 25 points and a critical tie-breaking three-pointer with under a minute to play. Go ahead, watch him drain the shot from downtown one more time.

South Carolina will take on another top-25 opponent this week, facing the fourth-ranked Tennessee Volunteers at home on Wednesday night. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 pm ET. Grab your tickets here - it’s going to be a good one.
