🎥 GAMECOCKS+

Wrap up the week by reliving the best moments from South Carolina women’s basketball’s championship! From Cleveland to Columbia, Gamecocks+ is bringing you the best highlights, recaps, and magical moments as the season culminated in perfection.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 To Be That Leader. When last season ended for Gamecock baseball, Ethan Petry had one goal in mind: “I want to be that leader next year alongside Cole.”

Now in April, it’s clear that Petry’s doing exactly that. Not only does he have 13 homers in 33 games, he feels he’s earned his teammates’ trust on and off the diamond: “They understand, they trust my word. I mean, trust is everything, and they trust me and Cole to handle the offense.”

Coach Kingston agrees: “I think they’ve done a good job. On the offensive side, you look at those two and then LeCroy. When we’re going well, those guys are doing a really nice job of leading by example, but also being willing to step up and say what needs to be said.”

🔼 All Eyes On Her. JaMeesia Ford has been named to The Bowerman Watch List not one, not two, not three but four months in a row! The Bowerman is a national award given every year to the most outstanding male and female Track & Field athletes. Our freshman phenom would be the first athlete in South Carolina program history to win the honor.

🔼 The World Knows. Linebacker Bam Martin-Scott closed out the 2023 season with a, well, bam. While Martin-Scott, who has been clocked running as fast as 22 miles per hour, finished the year with 38 total tackles to his name, an incredible 28 of them came in the final three games of the year. For his part, Martin-Scott is ready to carry that season-ending burst into a new year on the gridiron:

“The last four games of last season have definitely transferred over to now,” he said. “It’s definitely given me a boost of confidence. I feel like now the world knows I’m a ball player. I just keep carrying that over.”

🔼 Let’s Rotate. Gamecock baseball is set to take on Florida in a three-game SEC road series this weekend. Eli Jones will take the mound for South Carolina this evening at 6:30pm ET, while Ty Good gets the nod on Saturday at 4:00pm ET, and Matthew Becker will start Sunday’s noon matinee.
