Getting to the postseason takes everybody on the roster, from veteran leaders to freshmen making an impact. Parker Noland and Tyler Pitzer found themselves square in the middle of huge spots when third-ranked Vanderbilt came to town. With the Commodores in Columbia, the rookie and the vet take center stage.

🔼 Moving On. It was a thriller on the court yesterday for sixth-seeded Gamecock women’s tennis who rallied from a deficit to beat 11th-seeded Alabama and move on to the quarterfinals!

The squad dropped the doubles point before heading into the singles lineup. No. 16 Sarah Hamner found herself in trouble early, losing the first set, before battling back to win her 11th straight singles match, 1-6, 7-5, 6-0.

Misa Malkin (7-6, 6-0) and Elise Mills (6-4, 7-5) delivered wins to even the overall match at 3-3 before all eyes turned to No. 9 Ayana Akli. See the moment she clinched the postseason victory here!

Meanwhile, Gamecock men’s tennis is off to the quarterfinals, too! South Carolina defeated Alabama as Toby Samuel extended his winning streak in singles matches to 14 straight. Samuel, James Story, and Sean Daryabeigi notched wins in singles, while the duos of Daryabeigi and Casey Hoole and Samuel and Story won in doubles.

🔼 On And Off The Court. And speaking of Ayana Akli, she’s the first SEC Women’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year in program history! Akli, who posted a regular-season 24-10 singles record, dominates on and off the court. She finished her undergrad degree in civil engineering with a 3.54 GPA and is working on her masters in the same field with a current 3.75 GPA.

🔼 Stay Home. Four-star prospect Cam Scott is staying in the Palmetto State as the highly-rated high school senior signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Gamecock men’s hoops. Scott, a two-time South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year, is the top-ranked player in the state and is ranked within the Top 50 nationally. Scott played at Lexington High School where he set the school record for career points with 2,475.

🔼 Rotate In. The rotation is set for this weekend as No. 20 South Carolina baseball welcomes No. 2 Arkansas to Founders Park for a three-games series. Roman Kimball will take the mound tonight when the first pitch is thrown at 7:00pm ET, then Eli Jones will get the nod for Saturday’s 3:00pm matinee. Sunday’s starter will be announced later.

In other news from the diamond, Cole Messina landed on the Buster Posey Award Watch List for the second straight year. The honor is given annually to the best D1 collegiate catcher.

🔼 Spill The Tea. Of all the things that we love that came out of this season of Gamecock women’s basketball, 🫖🍵 Time with Tessa Johnson is high on our list of favorites. Now you can recap all episodes right here and look back on a perfect season.
