It’s May, and the Gamecocks are cruising into the new month on a high after taking the weekend series against then-No. 4 Kentucky. In a new episode of The Follow, Dalton Reeves talks with Gamecocks+ about life growing up as a Gamecock fan, and what donning the Garnet & Black every day means to him now. Meanwhile, the always-steady Eli Jones is anchoring the South Carolina rotation as postseason play inches closer. It’s all streaming on Gamecocks+!

🔼 Government Recognition. Congressman Russell Fry (SC-07) introduced a resolution yesterday to commend the University of South Carolina women’s basketball team for its 2024 NCAA championship win! Read it here.

🔼 A True Legacy. Boo Major is one of the most legendary coaches to ever wear the Garnet & Black. This tribute video in the wake of her retirement from the helm of South Carolina Equestrian will leave you feeling like the stable’s getting a little dusty.

🔼 Play Ball. Gamecock baseball will take the diamond this evening against East Tennessee State to close out its seven-game homestand. The first pitch is slated for 6:30pm ET; if you can’t make it to Founders Park, you can catch the game streaming on the SEC Network+.

South Carolina softball is also slated to play this evening, hosting USC Upstate at 6:00pm ET. South Carolina leads the all-time series against USC Upstate 7-3, including a 10-2 Gamecock win the last times the teams clashed.

🔼 Stars & Stripes. Former South Carolina Track & Field star Mechelle Lewis Freeman is Olympics-bound! Freeman has been named the Head Women’s Relays Coach for the 2024 USA Track & Field Olympic Team.

Freeman, a two-time All-American at South Carolina, is a decorated athlete, having competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games on the 4×100m relay team. She earned gold medals at the 2020 Olympic Games and in the 2022 and 2023 World Championships.
