Good morning. A’ja Wilson came home on Saturday afternoon as the Las Vegas Aces played a preseason game at Colonial Life Arena. As always, our FAMS welcomed A’ja back to Columbia in true South Carolina style.

A’ja’s teammates showed up looking spectacular in the Garnet & Black.

🔼 Thank You, Seniors. South Carolina baseball honored its senior class ahead of Saturday afternoon’s regular-season finale at Founders Park. A special thank you for it all to Dylan Brewer, Austin Brinling, Gavin Casas, Garrett Gainey, Ty Good, Parker Noland, and Dalton Reeves.

🔼 Coming 2025. Are you ready for the A’One set to a’rrive in 2025? Nike and A’ja announced the superstar’s shoe drop in an epic announcement when A’ja showed up to Colonial Life Arena in a sweatshirt that read: “Of Course I Have A Shoe Dot Com.” Legend.

🔼 Conference Honors. ICYMI, Alana Vawter earned All-SEC Second Team honors at the end of last week! It’s the second season in a row that a South Carolina pitcher was named All-SEC. Vawter posted a 2.19 ERA in 89 1-3 innings, threw seven complete games, and finished the SEC slate with 44 strikeouts.

🔼 Tracked It. Program records shattered on the final day of the SEC Outdoor Championship for South Carolina Track & Field! Sylvia Chelangat set the new Gamecock record in the 800m, running it in 2:01.23 for a third-place finish. JaMeesia Ford broke her own record in the 200m, finishing in second place with a time of 22.11 - the best finish for South Carolina women in the event since 2006.

Judy Kosgei ran the 5000m in 16:12.65 for a new South Carolina record, while the last program record for the women came during the 4×400m relay when Zaya Adkins, Jayla Jamison, Chelangat, and Ford teamed up to earn the silver medal with a finish of 3:25.02.

Anass Essayi set a new men’s program record, running the men’s 5K in 13:34.92. He was the first person to score in the SEC outdoor 5K in South Carolina history.

Eight Gamecocks earned Second Team All-SEC honors: CJ Licata (shot put), Dylan Targgart (shot put), Anass Essayi, Zaya Adkins, Sylvia Chelangat, JaMeesia Ford, Jayla Jamison, and Judy Kosgei.
