🔼 Staying Home. Gamecock men’s basketball coach Lamont Paris is all about keeping homegrown talent home. The Gamecocks have landed three straight South Carolina high school stars in consecutive seasons: GG Jackson, Collin Murray-Boyles, and Cam Scott. Playing with local talent is one of the key reasons why Scott ultimately decided to stay home:

“To be the tail of it now, that’s something, we all grew up together, we all grew up playing against each other, so it’s something that we’ve actually discussed,” Scott said of playing alongside CMB. “Me and my family, we used to talk about it all the time. Like, hey, you could be playing together potentially. You and Collin could be playing together potentially. But for me and Collin, just to see it all coming together right now, it’s kind of crazy because two, three years ago, we were ready to play against each other. So just now being able to be on the same team and work together towards a bigger goal, it’s going to be an honor to play with him.”

🔼 Mark Your Calendars. Get ready for another edition of Gamecock men’s basketball! The SEC announced league opponents for the upcoming hoops season, and South Carolina, who finished tied for second in the conference last season, will host six teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season, while playing home and homes with Mississippi State, Georgia, and Florida. SEC play starts on January 4.

South Carolina women’s basketball’s SEC opponents were announced yesterday! The defending national champs will play Texas as the upcoming season’s home-and-home opponent while also welcoming Oklahoma, Auburn, LSU, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Florida, and Kentucky to Colonial Life Arena.

🔼 Making A Difference. For South Carolina swimmer Grace Daniels, life is all about going the distance. Brad Muller explores how this rising sophomore has big plans for her life in and out of the pool, and what drove the talented swimmer to start her own non-profit charity to benefit her local community.
