The Follow: Don’t Count ‘Em Out (S.2 Ep.5): We saw it yesterday in the SEC Tournament: baseball is a long season full of ups and downs for every team. This Gamecock team is no different, but there’s something that sets South Carolina apart: with the talent on this roster and what they’ve already shown they can do, don’t count ‘em out.
Whether they’re down three in the bottom of the ninth to a Top-5 team or coming off a tough weekend, more often than not, this team finds a way to bounce back. Ty Good and Blake Jackson take us back through a wild weekend in Founders Park against Kentucky, and look ahead to what this team plans to accomplish as the postseason nears.
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Keep Movin’ On. South Carolina baseball is moving on at the SEC Tournament! The Gamecocks fell behind 3-0 early but a pair of homers from Gavin Casas and Ethan Petry pulled South Carolina within one before a Dalton Reeves grand slam (!!!) gave the Gamecocks a lead they wouldn’t give up.
Two more of our favorite highlights? This jaw-dropping snag from Ethan Petry at first and this big energy from Chris Veach.
South Carolina closed it out 10-5 and will be back on the diamond today against second-seeded Arkansas at 2:00pm ET on the SEC Network.
🔼 To Vegas. FAMS, are you ready to head to Vegas with Gamecock women’s hoops to kick off a new season in Sin City? Ticket packages are officially on sale now.
🔼 On Your Mark. The NCAA East Regionals get underway today from Lexington for our South Carolina Track & Field athletes. The Regionals will run from today through Saturday evening with the men competing today and on Friday, and the women competing on Thursday and Saturday.
Individual track events, excluding distance, will have a first round with all 48 athletes, then a quarterfinals for the Top 24. After the quarterfinals, the Top 12 will advance to the NCAA Championship, which will be held in Oregon from June 5-8.
It’s slightly different for distance and relay events - each event will run once with the top 12 advancing to the national championship.
During field events, throws, long jump, and triple jump will each have three attempts, while high jump and pole vault continue until 12 athletes remain to advance.
