🔼 Let’s Do It Again! South Carolina is heating up in Hoover! The Gamecocks are now 2-0 to start the SEC Tournament and will head to the winner’s bracket today after defeating Arkansas, 6-5 in a thriller that went down to the wire. South Carolina and Arkansas headed into the ninth inning deadlocked at four runs apiece before Cole Messina belted his second homer of the day, a two-run shot that gave the Gamecocks a 6-4 lead heading into the final frame.

South Carolina will take on LSU this afternoon at approximately 4:30pm ET.

🔼 Catching On. PFF released its list of the top 10 highest-graded SEC receivers heading into 2024, and two South Carolina transfer receivers cracked the list. Jared Brown, who transferred to Columbia from Coastal Carolina, checks in at No. 6, while Miami (Ohio) transfer Gage Larvadain landed at No. 9. Last season, Brown caught 58 passes for 740 yards and four scores, while adding 252 ground yards on 15 carries. Larvadain hauled in 42 catches for 670 yards and six scores with the RedHawks.

🔼 Hold The Line. South Carolina football is full of incredible talent at left tackle — so much so that sophomore Tree Babalade, who started much of last season at left tackle, and true freshman Josiah Thompson are locked in a position battle as the squad moves into summer prep:

“Those guys are battling it out,” Coach Beamer said. “Tree obviously started, what is it, 10 games, I think, last season at left tackle as well. So we know what he can do. And he’s really working hard to take another step this year. Josiah came in and is everything that we thought he was going to be. He was limited a little bit health-wise during spring practice. But this summer is really, really big for him to take another step.”

🔼 Debut Time. Kamilla Cardoso is finally ready to make her much-anticipated WNBA debut! She’ll hit the court on June 1 and, in a fun twist of Gamecock fate, she and the Chicago Sky will take on Cardoso’s former South Carolina teammates Aliyah Boston and Victaria Saxton and the Indiana Fever.
